AQL B-600TM - pH BOOSTER

Benefits:

    • Fast Acting.
    • Easy to Use.
    • Economical

AQL B-600 is a concentrated liquid pH booster for water systems.  It is recommended for
Boiler systems to raise the pH to desired levels to prevent corrosion and scale.

DESCRIPTION:  AQL B-600 is a liquid blend of sodium hydroxide.

Ingredients contained AQL B-600 are in accordance with Title 21, Section 173.310, of the Code of Federal Regulations for boiler water additives that may be safely used in the preparation of steam that will contact food.

APPLICATION:  AQL B-600 is a supplemental boiler treatment providing hydrate (OH) alkalinity.  An effective boiler water treatment program requires hydrate (OH) alkalinity for the preferential precipitation of hardness into a fluid non-adherent sludge.  This product is recommended for use in steam boilers on a phosphate control or a carbonate control program if the alkalinity level is too low.  AQL B-600 may be used in cooling tower systems when natural water alkalinity is not sufficient to raise pH to recommended operating levels.

PRODUCT DOSAGE:  For steam boilers operating at pressure up to 300 P.S.I.G., the desired hydrate (OH) alkalinity range is 200 to 600 ppm.  The initial dosage of AQL B-600 is two quarts for each 1000 gallons of boiler water.  This will provide 450 ppm hydrate (OH) alkalinity to the boiler.  Maintenance dosages will varry between 1 pint and 2 quarts per 1000 gallons of blow down, depending on the alkalinity demand of the treatment program and the amount of hydrate (OH) alkalinity thermally generated.

METHOD OF FEED: Feed AQL B-600 to the feedwater storage tank or feedwater line in direct proportion to feedwater demand, using an electronic metering pump.  This product can be fed directly from the container or mixed in a chemical feed solution using softened or low-hardness water.  In general, this product is not compatible with other concentrated boiler water treatments.  If mixing with other treatments, make up in very dilute chemical feed solutions only.

SYSTEM OPERATING PARAMETERS: Follow the same parameters as outlined for the internal boiler treatment program.

DANGER—POISON

CAUSES SKIN AND EYE BURNS
HARMFUL IF INHALED HARMFUL OR FATAL IF SWALLOWED
Contains Sodium Hydroxide.  Do not get on skin, in eyes or on clothing.  Wear goggles or a face shield, neoprene gloves and protective clothing when handling.  Wash thoroughly after handling.  Keep the container closed when not in use.  Avoid breathing the mist.  Use sufficient ventilation to prevent a buildup of mist.  Wear a NIOSH –approved respirator if misting is likely.  Inhalation may cause burns to mucous membranes.  Do not swallow.

FIRST AID:

FOR SKIN CONTACT:  Wash affected areas with large amounts of soap and water for 15 minutes.  Remove contaminated clothing and shoes. Get immediate medical attention.  Wash clothing and clean shoes before reuse.

FOR EYE CONTACT: Immediately rinse the eyes with water.  Remove contact lenses.  Hold the eyelids apart to ensure rinsing of the entire surface of the eyes and lids with water.  Continue flushing for at least 15 minutes.  Get immediate medical attention.

IF INHALED: Remove from the area to fresh air.  If not breathing, clear the airway and start mouth-to mouth artificial respiration.
Get immediate medical attention.

IF SWALLOWED: Give 3 to 4 glasses of water, but DO NOT induce vomiting.  If vomiting occurs, give fluids again.  Get immediate medical attention.  Do not give anything by mouth to an unconscious or convulsing person.
